Description and application of single-stage single-suction horizontal centrifugal pump

A single-stage single-suction horizontal centrifugal pump is composed of the impeller, pump casing, pump shaft, mechanical seal, and bearing housing. The impeller is the component that does work on the liquid, converting the motor’s mechanical energy into kinetic and pressure energy of the liquid. There are three types: closed, open, and semi-open. The pump casing typically has a volute structure, used to collect the liquid discharged from the impeller, guide it to the outlet, and convert its kinetic energy into pressure energy. The pump shaft is used to transmit torque, driving the impeller to rotate. One end of the shaft connects to the impeller, while the other end connects to the motor output shaft. The mechanical seal is installed between the pump cover and the pump shaft, preventing leakage of the liquid inside the pump and entry of external air. Based on the principle of centrifugal force, the motor drives the impeller to rotate at high speed. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the liquid in the impeller is thrown towards the edge, creating a low-pressure area at the center of the impeller. Under the pressure difference between the external atmospheric pressure and the low-pressure area, the liquid is drawn into the center of the impeller and then discharged through the pump casing flow path, achieving continuous conveyance.

The characteristics of a single-stage single-suction horizontal centrifugal pump include smooth operation, high concentricity of the pump shaft, excellent static and dynamic balance of the impeller, and minimal vibration during operation. Zero leakage is ensured by using hard alloy seals to prevent any leakage when conveying different media, with low noise levels. The single-stage single-suction horizontal centrifugal pump is supported by low-noise bearings, resulting in very little noise besides the motor sound during operation. Its structure is simple and reasonable, with key components made from high-quality materials. It operates without faults for long periods, is easy to maintain, and allows for convenient replacement of sealing parts and bearings. It saves space, facilitates pipeline layout and installation, and conserves space.
